Tigers place Ordonez, Guillen on disabled list

Ordonez fractured his right ankle when was thrown out at home trying to score on a Miguel Cabrera double in the bottom of the third inning. He is expected to be sidelined 6-to-8 weeks.

In 84 games this season, Ordonez is batting .303 with 12 home runs and 59 RBI.

Guillen left the contest with a right calf strain. He is hitting .280 with five home runs and 30 RBI in 61 games.

The Tigers on Sunday purchased the contracts of infielders Jeff Larish and Will Rhymes from Triple-A Toledo, released pitcher Billy Buckner and designated pitcher Casey Fien for assignment.

Larish was hitting .275 with 15 home runs and 55 RBI in the minors, while Rhymes posted a .304 batting average with two home runs and 34 RBI.
