07/29/2010 - Arlington, TX (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Texas Rangers placed All-Star second baseman Ian Kinsler on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left groin among several roster moves made by the club on Thursday.

The move is retroactive to July 28.

Kinsler has put up good numbers despite opening the season on the DL with a high right ankle sprain. Over 76 games, he is hitting .298 with six homers and 38 runs batted in to go with a .387 on-base percentage. Kinsler will be eligible to come off the DL on August 12.

To take Kinsler's roster spot, the Rangers purchased the contract of first baseman/outfielder Mitch Moreland from Triple-A Oklahoma City. The 24-year-old has hit 12 home runs and knocked in 65 runs while batting .289 with the minor league club this season.

In order to get Moreland on the 40-man roster, Texas transferred right-handed pitcher Mark Lowe from the 15-day to the 60-day DL. Lowe was part of a July 9 deal that brought lefty Cliff Lee to the Rangers from Seattle.

Lowe, who was placed on the DL with lower back inflammation on May 3, is 1-3 with a 3.48 earned run average in 11 relief outings this year, all with the Mariners.

Points (or Runs) Scored

Another bet across all major team sports including football, basketball, baseball, and hockey involves wagering on the amount of scoring in a game, called an Over/Under total. For example, the Over/Under total on Super Bowl XXXIX was 48, which means a bettor could wager whether there would be more or less than 48 points scored by both teams combined in the game.

The final score of Super Bowl XXXIX was 24-21; the scoring of both teams added up to 45, which means the game went Under . So Under bettors won, and Over bettors lost.

Future Bets

For example, a 6-point teaser would move the line on a 7-point favorite from -7 to -1, meaning the team would have to cover 6 less points. Everyone was shocked when Al Davis took Heyward-Bey with the eighth overall pick in April's draft, but the kid has a tremendous amount of talent and if quarterback JaMarcus Russell takes the next step this year, the former Maryland product could blossom. Plus, Heyward-Bey will be looking to prove the people wrong who said Oakland should have taken Michael Crabtree with the No. 8 pick.
