06/11/2010 - Chicago, IL (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - A.J. Pierzynski finished 4-for-5 with a homer and three RBI as the Chicago White Sox blitzed the Chicago Cubs, 10-5, in the opener of this three-game interleague series from Wrigley Field.
Alex Rios was 4-for-4, hit a two-run homer and scored three times for the White Sox, who have won three in a row and four of five overall.
Paul Konerko collected two hits, knocked in two and scored two runs while Carlos Quentin also went deep for the South Siders.
Jake Peavy (5-5) went seven innings for the win, allowing six hits and two runs with five strikeouts.
Alfonso Soriano hit a two-run shot and drove in three runs for the Cubs, who have dropped three of four.
Randy Wells (3-5) was tagged in defeat for 10 hits and five runs while fanning six and walking three over five full frames.
The Sox picked up two runs in the first on back-to-back RBI singles from Andruw Jones and Pierzynski, but Soriano's two-run blast in the home second knotted the score.
In the fifth, Alexei Ramirez singled and Rios walked before Konerko's two-run double down the line in left. Two batters later Pierzynski doubled off the ivy in center to plate Konerko for a 5-2 game.
Pierzynski reached the right-field seats with one out in the seventh to put the Pale Hose up by four, then Quentin hit the left-field bleachers to start the eighth to make it 7-2.
Later in that frame, a Ramirez RBI double plated the eighth run for the Sox, then Rios launched a two-run shot which gave the visitors a 10-2 edge.
The Cubs came back with three in the home eighth as Sox third baseman Jayson Nix botched a bloop from Soriano that scored two runs and Jeff Baker added a pinch-hit RBI single.
Scott Linebrink and Bobby Jenks combined to hold the Cubs off the board in the ninth although the home team had two on with one down.
