Herges agrees to minor league deal with Rockies

DENVER (AP) -Right-handed pitcher Matt Herges agreed to a minor league contract Monday with the Colorado Rockies, who invited him to their spring training camp.

If added to the 40-man roster, Herges would get $600,000, one-year contract and the chance to earn $150,000 in performance bonuses.

Herges, who turns 37 on April 1, went 2-3 with a 4.31 ERA in 66 relief appearances for the Florida Marlins last season. The one-time closer for the San Francisco Giants has a 32-29 record and a 3.89 ERA over his eight-year career that also includes stops with the Dodgers, Expos, Padres, Diamondbacks.
