Blackburn's Emerton injured again

Soccer Betting Lines

03/17/2008 - Blackburn, England (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Blackburn Rovers have received a blow with news Monday that Brett Emerton suffered a recurrence of a groin injury during Saturday's 2-1 defeat at West Ham.

The Australia international had only just returned to the side after missing the 1-1 draw against Fulham the previous weekend.

But Emerton's return was cut short after he lasted just 45 minutes at Upton Park before being replaced by Zurab Khizanishvili.

"Brett had a recurrence of his groin injury so he had to come off," confirmed Blackburn manager Mark Hughes.

Emerton's injury is also likely to keep him out of Australia's World Cup qualifier against China in Kunming on March 26.

Meanwhile, Hughes has admitted a failure to qualify for Europe this season could have an effect on the quality of player he is able to attract in the summer.

"Qualifying for Europe is important to us because it really helps with recruitment," he told the Lancashire Telegraph. "If you've got the attraction of European football then it helps when you are trying to attract a better quality of player.

"Ideally, we would like to present that to players if we are able to attract the right quality. There are still games to play and we've still got games we feel we can win, so it's not over yet."

MySportsbook.com Posts Heisman Trophy Odds

With 3,919 passing yards, 32 touchdowns and a mere seven interceptions last season, combined with a powerful South Bend Heisman legacy, odds makers at MySportsbook.com have given Notre Dame senior quarterback Brady Quinn the best Heisman Trophy odds at 5-2.

Quinn isn’t the only big man on campus this season.  Oklahoma junior running back and 2004 Heisman runner-up Adrian Peterson, listed at 7-2, rushed for a combined 3,033 yards in his first two years as a college player and will give Quinn a run for his money.

This online sportsbook has also listed Troy Smith, Ohio State senior quarterback, as another strong favorite to win the 72nd Heisman Trophy.  A 7-1 bet, Smith threw for 2,282 yards last season and also led the Buckeyes to a convincing 34-20 victory over Quinn and the Fighting Irish in last season’s Fiesta Bowl.
